S6 completed last night in my GT40 LM Spec II Test Car, so just the last race to go. Do still want to get a few more Golds in S Class before I consider it really finished though. S6 was the first race I found I had to adjust the cars settings. Turned the driving aids off - I’m sure there’s a multitude of reasons why this helps but the main one is that with them on, your car refuses to accelerate if it doesn’t think it’s under control.

Collision penalties - first up I wholeheartedly agree with Polyphony implementing this feature. Previous versions were far to easy to “cheat” in single player by performing what I refer to as a “Shumaker” and pushing other cars off the track.
However, the implementation doesn’t seem to be exactly perfect as of yet. I’m continually finding myself penalised when AI drivers hit me from behind. That can’t be right surely? I also managed to get penalised for hitting a car head on that was in front of me. That might sound fair enough, but the circumstances were that I was going through a corner at 120mph, and the car I hit was one that had spun off the track into the sand and opted to rejoin the race right in front of me giving me no time to slow down or steer out of it’s way. Collision penalties should be applied to cars re-entering the track in this kind of instance.
Still trying to get “S” class completed - just two races left.

OK, a new blog. Because I love the GT series from Polyphony Digital - it’s the single reason I bought a PS2, and the single reason I got a PS3. Polyphony Digitals’ “real driving simulator” puts you behind the wheel of some of the greatest cars this planet has to offer from some of the greatest and best known manufacturers. Graphically, it’s simply beautiful - apparently Polyphony spend 3 months rendering each car. The physics are, quite frankly, amazing. I drive in real life (I’m probably older than you are!) and without doubt the GT series have got the “feel” of driving right. And now GT5 Prologue is released, I’m playing it. This blog will be about GT5 and GT5 alone - a place for me to record what I’m doing, and drop some tips, screenshots and the odd video of how I’m getting along with the best driving game (dare I say the best game of any kind) available.
