S-10 Suzuka, how to beat easily

June 23rd, 2008 by tomcatuk

This race caused me a bit of trouble at first, but then a super simple way to beat it appeared. Basically, if the GT Spec II Test Car is in front on the starting grid, you’re going to have trouble catching it. Fortunately, you can change the starting grid positions. Just exit the race (you have to go right back to the main GT5 Prologue menu), and go back in and the starting line up changes. Do this TWICE and you should end up with an easy to beat lineup. When I raced this event (driving the GT Spec II Test Car, but that’s not really important here) and had the opposing GT stuck in 4th on the starting grid, I was way out in front at the end of lap 2 of this 5 lap race. The GT might be fast, but he can’t pass other cars (must be a fault in the AI). Basically, it was over in two laps as once you have the lead it’s pretty simple to hang onto it in this race. Not sure if this would be counted as a GT5 cheat - I certainly don’t think it is.

Here’s the vid - only showing first two laps as that’s all you need!

I can’t get that line-up. Maybe I am and am just not seeing it? Where are the GT LM’s in the easiest line-up?

Believe it or not, my son very kindly deleted my game progress. Credits, cars and gold medals all gone! So I’m doing them all again…and just S-10 and the F40 race to get gold again on (have done all the rest quite easily). I’m finding the same thing - my guess is that Polyphony have, via an update, stopped the lineup you see in this video appearing. It does still make quite a difference if you change the lineup though by exiting and going back into this race - depending on the lineup I’m within 1 second of a gold, but on hard lineups I’m as much as 10 seconds off the pace!
